LO1: Research Notes - Radio 1 Breakfast show (Radio show)

Purpose – What is the purpose of this audio product? Does it entertain, Inform or instruct? How do you know it is for this purpose?
This is a commercial music talk radio station we know this because of the featured advertisements on the show, this connotes them trying to sell a product to the costumers, by advertising their brand they are trying to promote their brand and getting the audience to use the whole brand rather than just that one radio show. Another purpose of the show is to keep viewers entertained because this is a music talk show, this means viewers tune in in the morning for morning entertainment so want something upbeat to get them going rather than something to put a down on the rest of the day. 
Form & Style – What form does the product take (podcast, audiobook, audio manual etc.) What style is employed? Conversational, formal, informal etc.
This product is in the shape of a radio show, in a talk show, informal, conversational style. The station can be downloaded via a app as radio is going a lot more digital within this decade.
Content – What is in this audio product, what does it deliver to the audience.
The current producer is Nick GrimShaw, who took over from the longest host Chris Moyles.  The show has many games within the radio show with things such as call or delete which is a game played by celebrities choosing to either call a random number in their contacts or delete it. It also denotes a section of Nixtape  which is a full hour of older songs from the 2000's which connotes the idea of the older target audience. 
Meaning – What does the product convey in terms of meaning, does it seek to influence or engage the listener in thought.
The show gets viewers to get involved by calling in. The show denotes a jingle at the start to make you familiar with the show.
Genre – What genre does it belong to? How can you tell?
The genre of the radio show is morning/ talk show as it denotes guest speakers and guest
Target audience – Who are the target audience? What demographic do they come under? What does any RAJAR data tell us about this group?
The official Rajar data revealed that 6 per cent of all radio listening is now on mobile phones and apps, while more than 10 per cent of in-car listening is on digital radio so this shows that most radios are becoming digital.
Frequency – How often is the audio product available/updated? What is significant about the frequency.
The show is broadcast for 210 minutes and is live from 6:30 till 10am. The show is on every weekday morning to give people a positive start to the day.

Production process – Where and how is the product produced? How is it made available for consumption?
The show will use cart walls so the presenters know when the advertisers and jingles are coming up next this helps the show run smoothly as well as having the play server there with all the music stored on.
