PROGRAMME DETAILS
Programme Name:
Sheffield Underground Sounds
Producer:
Danielle Baggaley & Becky Jackson
Presenter/s:
Danielle Baggaley & Becky Jackson
Is this a proposal for a new programme or continuation of an existing programme?
[   ]  New programme proposal
[   ]  Continuation proposal
Please provide a brief description of your programme and its purpose: (50 words max)
Sheffield Underground Grounds is about getting the local people to listen to all the local music. It gives the listeners the chance to experience local musicians and their passion for music. Also allowing them to follow local bands as the bands we play may also have interviews, gigs, reviews and competitions.

Which language/s will you broadcast in?
Primary language
English
Other languages
English.
How much of your programme will be speech and how much music?
Speech
50 %
Music
50 %
Please describe the speech content of the programme. Will there be discussions, interviews or performance? What issues and subjects will you cover?

During the show there will be interviews with local bands, especially upcoming bands. There also may be some live aspects of the show, this allows the audience to relate to the show as they can follow the bands as they can really get to know them with the different segments. Discussions on the show will include things like ‘how is the music industry for small local bands’ or asking the listeners ‘who is your favourite local  band’

What styles of music will you play?

The majority of the music to be played on the show will be in the indie genre. This is generally because the ‘indie’ genre of music has a variety of music and bands allowing us to create broad base of local bands from all sides of the city. This gives us a real mi of music allowing us to target a broader audience range.

Please explain how the proposed programme will deliver community benefit (e.g.  local voices, underserved needs, cultural and linguistic diversity, social inclusion etc)

Social Inclusion because it will take the attention away from the ‘mainstream music’ to introduce new local music. It will also include a community benefit that will promote local young bands and give them the coverage that they have probably being struggling to get on a broader radio station.

Audience for your Programme
Please describe the audience for your programme.
The audience for the programme will be specifically aimed at people in the music industry. It will also be aimed at people in the local area of Sheffield or South Yorkshire, which allows the bands to create a fan base from where they were originally formed. This show will also be aimed at the ABC1 Traget demographic, this is because we want people that have spare money in order for the bands to gain from the listeners, for example we want the listeners to have money to go to gigs, tours and buy tickets.

How will you ensure that there is audience participation in your programme?

To ensure we have audience participation we will allow people who tweet in questions when we have a local band being interviewed, and tweet in discussion topics.

Experience

Please explain how you have gathered knowledge of the people, subjects and music you wish to include in your programme.
To gather knowledge on the field, I have previously taken part in the filing and editing of a local bands music video, as well as editing together a promotional video for a event at plug which promotes local bands.
Please give details of any previous broadcasting experience and training you have undertaken.
The training I have undertaken would be at the university technology college, which allows me to have a depth field of knowledge in the subject, as we have done various tasks to gain the experience and knowledge needed for this task.
Please give details of any support you may require in order to do your programme

Other information

Please give any other relevant information for consideration when your proposal is assessed.

Programme sponsorship and fund-raising
Please tell us your plans for securing a sponsor for your programme, or other commitment to fund-raising for Sheffield Live! (Note: we need to raise at least £1000 per show per year)
We plan to advertise any local shops such as vintage shops, and record shops and anything only known around either the South Yorkshire area or the Sheffield Area. This allows all the small business to gain the audience they probably have been struggling to find on another radio station.
